On September 9th, 2010 at 10 pm, a group of Americans will set out to raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warriors of the United States Military. Our journey will begin at the Kansas/Nebraska border and end on the Kansas/Oklahoma border. Tony Clark an ultra marathoner and combat veteran Marine, will run solo 224miles along “Old Hwy 81”. The mission of this group is to raise $25,000 for the Wounded Warrior Program and to raise awareness of the plight our Wounded Warriors face.
The run will begin on September 9th, 2010 at 10pm and end some 60hrs later on September 12, 2010. Tony Clark served in the United States Marine Corps from 1996-2002 as an infantryman and forward observer. Tony is an ultra-marathon runner that has finished many marathons and 100 mile ultra-marathon races.
Tony has assembled a crew to help him complete this grueling challenge. The crew consists of Kyle and Stacey Amos from Olathe, Kansas, Tony’s wife Angel, and Dan and Rebecca Elsener of Indianapolis, IN. Kyle is a veteran ultra runner and tri-athlete, who has a deep knowledge of endurance racing. His expertice in training, nutrition, and mental aspects of endurance sports will help Tony achieve his goal. Dan and Rebecca Elsener from Indianapolis, Indiana; Dan is also a veteran Marine that served with Tony and a Paramedic. The final piece to this group will be Tony’s wife Angel. Angel has been Tony’s strength and motivator through his training and completion of some of the most grueling 100 mile races in the United States.
This event is going to take a total group effort.
